(Edmonton, AB. – April 8, 2015) – Adventure is never far away with a compact pickup truck – and this year Canadians can gear up to dominate almost any terrain they encounter, whether it be on or off-road – with the king of the hill: The all-new, 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

“The 2016 Tacoma is the product of more than 70 years of experience in

building rugged, reliable trucks designed to succeed in the toughest climate and terrain conditions around the world,” said Larry Hutchinson, Vice President at Toyota Canada Inc. “Making its Canadian debut at this year’s Edmonton Motor show, the 2016 Tacoma has been redesigned and reengineered – inside and out, and from the ground up – for a life of adventure from coast to coast.”

Canadians love Tacoma’s winning formula of go-anywhere capability and cargo-carrying versatility. And for 2016, the already popular Tacoma benefits from a long list of new features and improvements, including:

  • A stronger chassis and frame, reinforced with high-strength steel
  • A choice of two engines: a proven, powerful and efficient 2.7L four-cylinder or an all-new, segment-first 3.5L Atkinson cycle V6 equipped with Toyota’s D-4S technology, featuring both direct and port fuel injection for increased performance efficiency
  • Impressive handling performance, from an upgraded suspension that’s smoother on the road, more capable when the going gets tough, plus many available handling technologies including: A Multi-Terrain select system; Automatic limited slip and locking rear differential; Hill-start assist control; Active traction control; and Crawl control
  • Fresh styling that reflects Toyota’s truck DNA, conveying a unique identity inspired by Toyota’s expertise in desert racing. The new Tacoma shares the Toyota Tundra’s more chiseled face even as it expresses Tacoma’s athletic agility and impressive capability through such visual details as a taller hood, muscular fender flares, a high beltline, and four new 16 and 17” wheel designs
  • New exterior details are stylish and functional – from the slim profile, high-tech headlights with available LED DRLs, to a new, easy-lowering tailgate with integrated spoiler and the first-ever factory-available Toyota tri-fold hard tonneau cover for securing gear.
  • Tacoma’s tough exterior is complemented by an interior that conveys an athletic, yet comfortable, go-anywhere, off-road feel. The instrument panel is even more driver-focused, while soft-wrapped trim and metallic accents impart a high-quality look and feel. And Tacoma buyers will now have the opportunity to capture their global adventures on video as every Tacoma will come standard with a GoPro® mount located near the rear-view mirror.
  • An extensive list of available premium features, including: The Qi wireless charging system for compatible personal electronics; Smart Key with Push Button Start; Leather-trimmed seats; a Power Moonroof; Dual-zone automatic climate control; Enhanced touchscreen audio system; Toyota’s Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert; and more.

While there’s a lot that’s new about the new Tacoma, some things have not changed – including Toyota’s commitment to crafting quality trucks that are durable and reliable. Toyota’s quality, dependability and reliability have helped Tacoma earn the 2014 Winner of Canadian Black Book’s Best Retained Value Award for six consecutive years.

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma is the compact pickup that’s ready to tackle almost any challenge, making it the perfect truck for Canadians that are hungry for adventure.
